Speak Greek in 2025: A Year of New Connections and Community

2025 has been a landmark year for Speak Greek, filled with exciting initiatives that brought our community closer together and expanded the ways we celebrate Greek language and culture. From January through December, we’ve introduced new services that have quickly become beloved fixtures of our calendar, enriching both learning and social experiences.

The Greek Book Club

This year we proudly launched the Greek Book Club, designed specifically for native speakers and advanced learners of Greek (CEFR Level C2). The sessions went beyond simple reading: participants engaged in nuanced literary analysis, explored complex themes in contemporary and classical works, and debated cultural and linguistic subtleties in Greek. The club became a space where high-level language skills were challenged and refined, while fostering intellectual exchange and a deeper appreciation of Greek literature’s richness.

The Greek Lunch Club

In 2025 we introduced the Greek Lunch Club, a 30‑minute weekly session held at a local Primary School for pupils in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6. The club focused on learning the Greek alphabet and practising key phrases in a fun, accessible way. To make the experience even more engaging, sessions also included arts and crafts activities, allowing children to connect language learning with creativity. This initiative gave younger learners a lively introduction to Greek while fostering curiosity and cultural appreciation.

Other Highlights

Beyond these flagship services, 2025 also saw:

  • Expanded workshops on everyday Greek phrases and cultural etiquette.
  • Seasonal events celebrating Greek holidays, offering immersive experiences for learners.
  • Collaborative projects with local cultural organizations, strengthening ties between Speak Greek and the wider community.
Looking Ahead

As we close out 2025, we’re proud of how these new services have fostered friendships, boosted confidence in speaking Greek, and created spaces where culture and language thrive together. The success of the Book Club and Lunch Club shows the power of learning through shared experiences, and we’re excited to build on this momentum in 2026 with even more opportunities for connection.
