Today (Saturday, 21/02/2026) Speak Greek proudly took part in the International Mother Language Day celebrations at Manchester Central Library (13:00–16:00). Our desk was located right next to the Consulate General of Greece in Manchester, creating a wonderful space for visitors to explore Greek language and culture.
What we offered
Visitors of all ages enjoyed a range of interactive and cultural activities, including:
- Cretan dakos workshop — a delicious introduction to Cretan flavours
- Hands‑on Greek alphabet activities — fun ways to practise writing Greek letters
- A quiz with key facts about Greece — testing knowledge and sparking curiosity
- Free pens, pencils, pins, and bookmarks — little gifts to take home
- A warm, welcoming space to discover the beauty of the Greek language and its heritage
It was a joy to meet so many people, share our passion for Greek, and celebrate the importance of linguistic diversity.
