GCSE (9–1) Modern Greek – Speaking Exam Guide for Parents

If your child is preparing for the GCSE (9–1) in Modern Greek, here are the main ways to arrange their Speaking Exam (Paper 2, Specification 2017):

Option 1: Through Your Child’s School

  • Some schools can host the exam and provide an Examiner.
  • If that’s the case, you don’t need to do anything further.
  • If the school cannot provide an Examiner, they may ask you to find one yourself (see Option 2).
Option 2: Find an Examiner Independently

  • You can search online for an experienced Examiner (mainly via search engines and social media).
  • Make sure you give plenty of notice to both the Examiner and the school so the exam can be scheduled smoothly.
  • Please note: Speak Greek cannot recommend Examiners directly.
Option 3: Register with a Greek Supplementary School

  • Some Greek Supplementary Schools are approved exam centres by Pearson Edexcel.
  • These schools will provide an Examiner for the Speaking Exam.
  • You can search for Supplementary Schools
  • Not all Supplementary Schools are approved centres, so check carefully.
Option 4: Use an Independent Exam Centre

Option 5: Register in Manchester with Speak Greek Support

  • If you register at an exam centre in Manchester, Speak Greek can provide an Examiner if the centre does not have one.
  • Please note: additional charges apply for this service.
